swagger like us?

Great article by Ann Friedman in the Prospect:

Even after decades of women suiting up in shoulder pads and trying to cross that line, we continue to simultaneously embrace the idea that powerful women promise to be different, somehow, from powerful men. Supposedly, women are natural mediators. Women know how to multitask. Women are more levelheaded. If women ruled the world, it would be more stable, less violent, and color-coordinated.

get it Shonda, that’s how you do it.

from the channel that brought you nene leakes, bravo brings you the finer things in life. → artdaily.com

can you really make artists compete to show their greatness? apparently bravo things so.  new reality show “work of art” on bravo will feature new artists competing for a shot at greatness. i don’t know how this will work out, but the winner certainly won’t be in with in crowd.  and they better not try to air that after one of nene and kim’s blowout fights because you know i’ll be all about my twitter post show dishing.  viva les vrai artistes!

above one of my favs, alice neel.

from NPR.com:

In his new book, The Calculus of Friendship, math professor and writer Steven Strogatz looks back on his 30-year correspondence with his high school math teacher. Can calculus, differential equations and chaos theory help explain the complex nature of human relationships?

professor weezy? easy now, freakonomics. easy. → freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com

just as i was ready to forgive t-pain for his inappropriately jovial appearance on the ‘we are the world’ remake, this happens.  reading through the NYTimes Freakonomics blog today I came across Ian Ayres’ post, “Could T-Pain Make an Economics Lecture More Interesting?”

I predict that we will soon start seeing auto-tuned mashups of all kinds of business and academic presentations.  Imagine how an audience would react to an auto-tuned segment of a Freakonomics keynote address.

now look, i get the whole mass appeal thing, but we cant go breaking things down for everybody.  my take is that most die hard t-pain fans are delusional and thus don’t want to get those nuggets of wisdom. at this point, if freakonomics and tyra incorporating the word ‘recessionista’ into every show hasn’t cornered off the people-who-dont-give-two-red-hens about the economy market, i’m thinking we might have to throw our hands up in the air and keep it moving.

do we need jay to bust out D.O.A pt 2 to scare auto tunes away? drop the Blueprint 4, spitting hot fire with a cane? lawks. enough is enough. we can only dumb it down so much. whats next having weezy rap through the dems proposal for healthcare so the public option can be further clarified?  well.. actually, if wayne did the truncated 11 pager obama handed out today, i could prob not spaz. his new orleans flow is def a no-go on the big textbook bill though.

sorry mr. carter. im just saying.
